Advanced Story Maps documentation

Settings

Settings belong to an individual story map. Open the map menu and select Settings to configure its board, visible fields, swimlane statistics, and display.

Backlog and board

Select the Jira agile board used to supply backlog issues, sprints, releases, and board quick filters. You can also control the sorting and filtering applied to the backlog.

Changing the board can change which issues are available to a dynamic map. Review Board Configuration before replacing it.

Fields and statistics

Backbone statistics

Choose the progress information displayed for each backbone item. Available measures include issue totals by status, percentage of issues completed, and percentage of story points completed when Jira supplies estimates.

Swimlane statistics

Display issue counts or story-point totals by status for sprint, release, and supported custom swimlanes.

Issue cards

Choose which supported Jira fields appear on the cards. The app supports standard fields such as labels, assignee, and reporter, plus text, number, single-select, and multi-select custom fields.

Display options

  • Column coloring: apply a backbone item’s color to its complete column.
  • Top-level row: show or hide the optional activity or goal level without deleting its configuration.
  • Scrollable header: keep the map header available while moving through a large map.
  • Issue keys: hide backbone issue keys when they make the map harder to scan.
  • Tool icons: show the available controls on issue cards.
  • Completed lanes: include or hide completed sprints and releases.

Use the Admin Guide for the separate global setting that controls which projects show the app.
